**Have You Seen An Egg Like This Before?**

Hi everyone, has anyone seen this happen before and will the peahen be ok? I believe it came from my 2 year old white cause she is starting to lay and yesterday looked egg bound very badly. Today she is looking a lot better. Can I try to remove the "coating" and if it is fertile will it hatch or just toss it and call it a day? I want to know if the 2 year old white male is the father as he is the only one with tail feathers LOL

Is it hard or is it soft? You make it sound like it's hard, which would mean it's not just shell-less. that is a very strange egg. It almost looks like she shed some lining around it, like maybe some of the ovaduct got stuck to the shell or something. Was there any blood in the pen? I can't stop staring.

Is this her first egg? If not how many eggs has she laid and were they normal any soft shell eggs? I definitely wouldnt try to hatch that thing just toss it. It looks soft in the pics. Is it?

Yes, I've seen one from a Delaware pullet, with the membrane-ish stuff over a normal egg. No issues with the hen afterward. It was probably just a glitch, though I don't know much about peafowl, specifically.

I would not try to hatch it. It also has an odd shape.

The shell is hard, egg is normal just has what looks like intestines all wrapped around it. Like the egg got twisted and tore off the membrane iside her. There is no way to tell for blood as it rained all day and still raining now we got 3 inches so far. She was walking around the pen and looks more relieved today the she did yesterday. I can remove the membrane from around the egg but if it is fertile will it hatch?

One of our bronze w/e hens have layed eggs like that. Twice this year. The hens had a hard time passing the egg. When I broke it open it looked nasty. The yellow broken, looked like a scrambled egg. The shell was quite thick. One of the eggs was beginning to have a foul odor.
Watched the hens closely afterwards to make sure they showed no signs of infection.
They recovered fine.

Thanks guys I will give it a try only because if I do not and it is fertile I would not forgive myself. I did candle it and it seems fine so far. Thanks BigCreek I will keep an eye on her and if anything looks different will give her some baytril
