monday I picked up 10,1month old barn yard mix chicks. Lady was weird and sketchy. What ever, each their own. She greeted me with them in a box at the closed gate and rushed me off. I get them home and none of the chicks can walk with out falling over. Some don't even try to move.labored breathing in a couple. All can kick their legs, flap their wings and grasp with their toes. I called her immediately, she doesn't argue or want them back but gives me my money back. Claims they just got too hot.
I gave them a chunk of water melon to try and perk them up. Two got much better with in an hour or so. I gave them medicated chick starter, a dose of corrid and a vitamin/electrolyte pack in the water and let em be for the night.
Day two, five show no signs of anything having been wrong. 2 seem to be some what better and trying to get around, eating drinking, but not right. And three are still in the same shape as before but seem to be trying to fight. What on earth am I fighting here!? Could she be right that they just got hot?
