Having a lot of trouble finding DE

Where do you guys get your DE? I am dead set on not having to pay shipping so that is absolutely last resort. I have tried Lowe's, Home Depot, TSC, and no one has even heard of it. I still have the local co-op, two local feed stores, and a local garden center to check, but I am definitely afraid I won't be able to find it locally.

Try asking at your local feed stores or garden stores if they can order it for you, it has to be food grade DE. Up here our local Agway store will order it for me, i just ask before my current supply is gone.

Try calling around to a couple of your local feed stores and ask for food grade DE. You can get pool grade DE at Home Depot & Lowe's, but that's not safe to use around your chickens. We recently picked up a 50 pound bag at a feed store in south Sacramento for about $30.

DO you have an Ace Hardware? I know they carried it..but in the end, you still might be able to find it cheaper online than local. I have found that to be the case many times, even with shipping.

I have ordered from this guy for years and his prices are very reasonable.

You might have to actually go into the garden sections and check things that say natural pest control..sometimes they are pure DE and nothing else.

What do you want it for? If you were closer I'd give you mine. You can buy Sweet PDZ or similar, or even pelletized lime, and get the same odor and fly control, and inexpensive poultry dust to keep mites/lice in check. I bought mine online. Works well to kill caterpillar shaped pests in the garden.

I work at home depot and didn't know what it was until a customer made me feel like an idiot. She had something to say like - I guess you didn't pay attention in Biology? Well I didn't take biology thank you very much and HOW RUDE. Any who. Home Depot does carry it. Its in the insecticides section. I didn't have the time to read the packaging to see what else it may have in it.

I work later today and will try to take a look for you. In the mean time I found mine at amazon (before I knew we carried it). Its "food grade" and all it has in it is DE. I didn't pay shipping but then again I have one of those membership things that I got tricked into. Oh well its come in handy

I'll give it a look at the store today I'll even get you the SKU number so you can call your local store before you have to make an extra trip

I found mine at a local ag store....they sell the 50lb bag and also offer 5 lb bags they have made from one of the 50lb bags for convenience. If you can't find it in one of your local ag store try asking them to carry it for you, chances are your not the only one that has a need and often times, if the store knows whats best for them, they will listen to their customers and stock items that their customers actually need when the need is made known.
