, vitamin D3 can help if you give it a fair trial (a month or so). It has to be the D3 (cholecalciferol), not D2.

I agree, 100%.

Vitamin D is fat soluble, so it's possible -- though HIGHLY UNLIKELY -- to overdo it. If you wanna know where you're at now, ask your doc to run a 25-hydroxyvitamin-D test and get him to tell you the numbers that come back.. They'll tell you you're OK if your levels are above 20ng/ml because that's what their books say right now, but emerging research is beginning to point to anything less than 50ng/ml as insufficiency, at the very least. Farmers and people who work outside down near the equator have been shown to have levels >150ng/ml with no ill effects..

The FDA recommends 400IU/day.. I'm currently taking 5000IU and feel pretty good. Lots of people take even more than I'm taking with no ill effects.. I need to have the 25-OH-D test run myself, just to see where I'm at.. If I'm in the 30's or 40's, I fully intend to up my intake to 10,000IU/day.

Seriously...D3 makes me feel happier, healthier, less irritable, and much less likely to allow some little stumbling block stall me out completely.

Please go and see a doctor. There is nothing to be ashamed or embarrased about)- millions upon millions of peope take SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) Depression is very serious, so please seek help. Many SSRI's are on the four dollar list- just check with your pharmacy and ask your doc. My best friend committed suicide at 15, so believe me, I am intimately familiar with the lasting grip depression can have on your life.
