having SERIOUS issues with oppossum!

Might want to look into a decent pellet rifle too, some places it might be "more legal" to shoot a pellet rifle than a real rifle. Obviously not for the bigger stuff, but for the oppossums and whatnot, a .22 pellet rifle is adequate.

I love my .22 caliber pellet gun. I'm in town limits and these new air rifles are not toys by any means. My Walther Talon single pump pushes a lead .22 cal pellet 1000 fps. For a bit more money you can have a sport shop order it from the factory with the gas piston instead of the spring. Much less jarring and sound with the piston.

I'm using an Umarex Octane, plenty of power from that gas piston to put down most predators.

opossums are nocturnal so what I perfer is a live trap. then throw the trap into a large trash can or container filled with water. silent and clean

I am not an anti animal killer, I will kill about anything for the right reasons, however I don't find drowning to be a good way to kill anything. A shot to the brain box is far more humane in my opinion

I find it odd that a possum would try to get your rabbits. Sounds to me like you have a raccoon and a opossum problem.

My personal opinion would be a gun. However for those who do not own one or those who are bound by a law and don't want to get in trouble drowning is the next most plausible method

I've taken out raccoons and full grown opossum at 25 yards with a .177 caliber pellet rifle (1250 fps) with bb head pellets. Sometimes it takes more than one, but even in our very built up area it sounds no louder than a slamming screen door.

Muzzle to head is certain with one pellet.

I have no problem dispatching these critters with a gun, I have a very ornery donkey who can dispatch many vermin herself. A good livestock guardian is worth it's weight in gold.

So if it was a BB then a BB gun would do the same thing to one?
