I have been trying to use the "search" to help find what I need. I get the same thing no matter what I search for. Needed help with "delaware chicks", I get "raining in North Caroline" "fermenting feed for meat birds"? Then I entered "pasty butts", same things came up? Help please

I have the same problem with the search bar. I have learned that if I click Advanced Search and then choose to search posts only, I get actual results.

Advanced searching really is a skill that does take a lot of practice and experience. With search, once you've mastered the skill, you can do amazing things!

Personally I've been very impressed with the search functionality on this new platform. When I'm just looking for generic / general information (like any good threads about leg mites) I can just use the default search bar at the top and sort by "relevance" and get pretty good results. If I need to find a very specific post, I've also found I can tweak the settings just perfect to really limit the results returned and find exactly what I'm looking for.

It might seem complex, and it actually is, but fortunately the advanced tools are there if you need them and know how to use them.

BTW, if you think our advanced search is complex, check out all of Google's options:
