Goosedragon
Yes, he has access to deep water all of the time - I fed him by hand tonight and had a good look at the left side of his head, one of the cuts extends to the edge of his eye and I am reluctant to use betadine there for fear of causing him more problems - he almost looks as if he has a black eye, it is still swollen due to his beating - he also has a cut just above the eye, he is eating and drinking and apart from his visual appearance of having been in a fight it is the head shaking that is unusual - no Vet here would entertain seeing him so it is down to me to do what I can - maybe it is early days for his recuperation, he was quite badly beaten.
The Toulouse are so preoccupied with strutting around and competing with one another for leadership that they don't seem to be bothering him so much now - he is happy to go into his new accommodation with his girl at night and he spends his days on the peripherie of the Toulouse flock.
I must say that due to his beating he is very friendly now and he doesn't mind me handling him whereas before he wouldn't come near me....
I am happy to keep him if he is OK - I just don't want him to be suffering, I did think maybe he had an ear infection or even brain damage due to his head being subjected to attack - I have never seen any of the others shaking their head(s) as he has been doing, a one eyed goose is better than a dead one as far as I am concerned as long as he is relatively happy.
