We have lived in the middle of nowhere with no trees or anything so also no where to hang cd's. What we did for free ranging flock? We put broken mirror pieces around on the ground (larger ones so as not to hurt ourselves) and broken cd pieces around. We also put cd's on top of the coop. In the 2 years living out there, we never lost one bird to a hawk!
We had a beautiful one that would sit on the pole that brought eletricity to our property. We also had things for them to run under, a trailer, tires leaning, wood, etc etc.
