So sorry about your loss.

I know a number of people who have hung old CDs and DVDs around and in their uncovered runs and they haven't had hawk problems since then. I am going to do the same when we get our ducks; they will have a covered, secure run but will somtimes have daytime access to an open run next to their pen (veggie garden). You can also get bird scare tape, or use strips of mylar balloons. Hope this helps.

I've never had a loss to a predator other than my brother's dogs before. I'm hoping this pair is passing through on their way somewhere else. So far there hasn't been a sign of them again, but if you find an open buffet then you go back!

I ended up covering my run with deer netting, it was cheap and went on easy with twisty ties. I had a set of hawks raise a baby in the big tree not 40 feet from my chickens and I didnt lose a single chicken.
