Hawk Attack!!! Caught on Camera.

I lost my second chicken to a hawk today. The first was several weeks ago. I came around the corner of their coop and notice one my black silkies missing. I looked around and saw a large hawk eating the bird. My daughter admitted she had left the coop door open. I have been free ranging my chickens for several weeks with no problem. Even after the silkie died I continued to let them free range, they seemed happier and seemed to lay better. I figured the silkie had gotten pulled out of his coop. Well my stupidity paid off today. I let my chickens out today as usual and went inside. I decided to go to the store and went to check on my chicken and could not find them. They usually come when I call. I became very concerned and called my husband to come help look. I saw my silkies laying very still, but they were okay. Then I turned around and there was the hawk with our favorite, sweetest bird in its mouth. The hawk dropped Popcorn, but she was dead. I learned my lesson. My chickens won't like it but no more free ranging until we can build a big run. That was a very painful lesson. My children were devastated.
