So sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful hen. My girls were in the run with a hawk right on top. Two had run for the coop after the alarm had sounded. The other two were standing like statues. My dog and I chased it off the run then out of a tree in my back yard. But I have seen it around a few times since then. And the chickens were jumpy for a few days. Again sorry it got a favourite.

I am so sorry for this horrifying experience! My Japanese bantam cockerel (same one in my avatar) was killed by one last week. The Easter Eggers escaped and even my older rooster started hiding. (So much for a flock protector!)My chickens are locked up in the barn for now until a plan is designed.

I’m sorry about your loss
We are getting runs for our chooks as it is coming into their breeding season in Australia so good luck but I do not recomend letting them out for a few days and keep an eye out for that hawk of yours

We are keeping them in for now. Next nice day we are hanging netting over their run. They usually free range during the day, but during times like this when we have to keep them confined at least then they can go out in the run.

Yes we still haven’t got our run we bought yet so we have to wait for a few days to get it and set it up

I just wanted to update. The dead hen wasn't Marshmallow! It was her sister Rosie. I feel terrible that Im relieved. Rosie was crazy, and she tormented my little cochin.
