Yes they will attack older chickens. I have had mine attacked in the morning as early as 7am and as late as 7pm in the summer. Coopers hawks. We have found that if we put them up for 2 days the hawks move on. They will make the rounds again. We are about to try the fishing line across the yard. They are migrating and hungry in the fall and spring. In late spring and summer they are feeding their young and teaching their young. I play a radio loud during the day and am making a fake me to hang in different spots in the yard. Beyond that I can't do anything else but PRAY
