Funny you should mention it. I elevated a dogloo on cinder blocks in a corner of their outside pen to provide a hiding place. They can either get under the house or in the house too if they want. I asked my neighbor who has had chickens for many years his thoughts. He said chickens were too dumb to do either. Turns out, it is their favorite spot to hang out! I do have a roo. He is very young, but growing like a weed.Something to consider (and never the perfect answer, by far) is to make sure that you have lots of hiding places in the run itself - bushy shrubs are ideal, but built structures work too. Also, do you (or can you) have a rooster? They're amazing at getting their girls to safety, and their eyesight is so much more keen than ours when it comes to spotting predatory possibilities from the air.![]()

What they call wolves appear to be Golden Jackals, or their Golden Eagles and the people that man them are a lot bigger than their American counterparts.There are videos where Mongolians train these huge eagles to kill wolves/coyotes/foxes! Don't underestimate the strength of birds!
