As I turned off the vacuum today I heard a comotion outside. When I opened the door my 5 'big' girls where cowering in the garden with the puppy. I look up to see a huge bird chewing on one of the 3 month olds. I scared it off, but it was too late. It had to be a hawk, but i've never sen one around here, ever. My question is why can I only find one body? There are only black feathers, no gold ones from the EE.

You're absolutely right. She came from nowhere along with her 'sister' just as the sun set. What a day. It makes me sick to my stomach to bury a pet, but it could have been a lot worse. They won't be free ranging alone (or with the 'guard' dog) for a while.

I am so sorry. Hawks are my most successful predators, so I feel your pain. I'm glad you were able to find the others.
