GAH! i am so angry. I have a big run separated in two areas because the chicks I hatched and the chicks i recently got (they are about the same age) pick at eachother alot. Well when i looked out the window.. there was a freaking hawk in the chick run! It looked like a badger or wolverine at first, so i grabbed the first thing i saw that was heavy (which ended up being the top of a fish tank with a motor and big light bulbs
), and i ran outside, and to my suprise, it flew off, and i realized it was actually a hawk. There was 2 bodies laying in the wyndotte chicks' run area. and i did a head count, and had all 14 of my wyndotte chicks, and there was only 10 out of 13 chicks that i hatched, which left one missing. I figured that the hawk took it with her. and i got even more angry when i realized that it was the spitz chick (cuz she was the cutest
. My mom asked if i wanted to put chicken wire over the top when we put up the run, but i said no. i thought that it would be easier to put them back in their cages (they don't use the ramps, who knows why, so everynight i have to go out there and put them in
), and give them bread and other treats, and when i wanted to i could go in there and sit with my babies. i didn't think anything would happen, but it did. Gah.
Its been happening alot latley, where when i think i am doing something right, it's wrong
I know that makes you sick, but hinesight never works, does it?. I know I getting ready to have the same kind of problems. Resident hawk, neighbors dogs, foxes and coon. I hate to think about it.
