Hawk deterrent

Something not adding up here. Hawk immature and appears to be of a species that would not be able to fly through tight spaces well.

The fishing lines are spanning 20 feet, so there was give. I have since put up bird netting and haven't lost a chicken yet.

We have found the concussion of air and raining shot works wonders as well. Bird brains are easily trained.

Has anyone ever considered an ordinary cat as a hawk deterrent... I will surely be jinxing myself, but I have a flock of black chickens, and I have this one black cat, and she likes to mix in among the chickens because the squirrels are not afraid of the chickens and she has caught a couple of them (squirrels) who must not have noticed her among the flock. I was thinking, a hawk, sitting in a tree, sizing up his chances, would probably consider a cat in the same way it might see a fox or a racoon or any smaller predator. A hawk would not want to be on the ground in the vicinity of something like that. Has anyone had a hawk attack with a cat present?

I am new to BYC and I have a couple of issues I need help with.
1 we just noticed a large population of Crows in our back yard this year. Is this because we have chickens?
I Definitely have noticed no hocks in the area so far this summer
2 We have a peck problem going on.
Came out this morning and that’s what we saw. We think our Purdue rooster is beating up her badly should we take him out of the coop ?

Crows help chase the hawks away. I would be glad to have crows.
That hen needs blue kote or another peck stopper so the hens don't peck her.
I would take the roo out and see if any hens are the cause. A roo should not be that aggressive to cause damage... If I seen him do that I would cull. But roos get the blame even when it's not them... So I would make sure it's not a aggressive hen.

How many hens per rooster do you have.... a rooster needs about 8 to 10 hens or they become abusive to the few hens they have. Whatever the case, I would not let that continue.
