Hawk eats Cheese (the duck)

So sorry for your experience. Adding things to a run to hide under will Not help much with determined hungry predators. In my experience, not even low spruce branches or running or even yelling at hawks while they are diving onto your birds. The driving-them-away has to happen while they are floating around scouting your place for a couple/few days beforehand, by the way. But then you will not be there all the time. Only wire netting will work, in the end. Also, if a hawk got in, a fox certainly can climb in.

What a hard experience. I am glad your duck is okay, it was hard to watch them not know what to do. I want to yell at them to go into the coop, but it never seems to occur to them. That hawk was so small compared to your duck, you wouldn’t expect it to go after something so huge, but there it is. I hope the duck isn’t to fearful now

Next time someone has a predator problem and they say they don't want to harm the predator because they have to eat too just show them this video. Seems to me shooting a racoon or some such is a much more humane death then the preaditor was planing to give the duck/chicken, what a terrible way to die. Glad cheese is ok.
