Hawk grabbed call duck! Help needed!

How is the the little fellow doing today?
He’s continuing to improve and doing well! He now has free range of my house, along with Squeegee. They love to watch tv and wander around. They did get in trouble for trying to fly around the house! :eek:The food was gone this morning so I’m not sure if he ate some or not. Since Squeegee doesn’t eat very much I’m assuming that they both got some. I’m waiting to let them outside for a bath, and breakfast, till Squeegee lays her egg. If I don’t keep her in until then, she flies into my neighbor’s yard and lays it really deep in his burn pile! It’s too dangerous for her to be all by herself especially considering that all the hawks hang out over there. I’m not sure how to get her to stop laying over there.. so far, all the eggs I collected have been covered in black ashes...:gig
Upon further examination, I found that Squeak, my white call that flew over at the hawk and tried to save Splash, has a peck wound on the back of his neck (along with the bruised bill that I noticed earlier). It’s healing up nicely as well and I have begun treating it. It is not very deep, I’ll get a picture later...

I left for five minutes and came back to find Squeegee and Splash in the basement sitting under the drums... :lau :th

I let the ducks out for supervised free ranging again today... Splash decided he would take the 2 girls and fly over to my neighbor's pond. I was so worried about them being over there, that i've sat outside the fence and watched them to make sure they're ok. Splash flew back with his one girl, Cammie, and left the other girl (Squeegee) over there! I have put Splash and Cammie inside and am currently watching Squeegee. Hopefully she returns soon, but if not I will have to go retreive her... :he:th

I forgot to update... I retrieved Squeegee and she is now inside with Splash and Cammie! Splash really is the troublemaker of the bunch and is always getting himself grounded... Even hawk injuries won't stop him from running off with the girls and trespassing on all my neighbor's properties! They swam over there for 3 hours, I watched from a far while silently panicking! Everyone is safe and sound and tucked in for the night... (except for my nesting Guinea that refuses to come in for the night) :rant

I swear these ducks give me a mini heart attack once a day!:gig:barnie:th:idunno

Thanks, me too! I did not use antibiotic ointment that had pain relief. (I read about that as well)... I got my calls (yes they're calls) from Johnson's Waterfowl. They were shipped out as day olds. Out of the six that I ordered, five were completely healthy and well. One passed away but it was a weak one to start out with. I couldn't recommend them enough! They were great with letting you know the ship dates and were very kind. If I can recall I ordered assorted and it was about 6 dollars per duckling and shipping was only $15! I have two other unrelated drakes that I got from someone nearby. One is a blue fawn pied and the other is a blue fawn. :D
Thanks ! 😍 I'm gonna have to check that out ! Can't wait for the eggs to hatch! I'm sooooooooooooooooo glad your duck is doing better !

P.s.
Yes I've been just following along ! Haha 🤣😂

I'm not sure how i'll wait that long...
I'm overjoyed that little Splash is recovering well! He loves to wake me up early in the morning by quacking loudly with his girl...:gig
Thanks much for the support and for following his recovery! I am so grateful! :D:thumbsup

Great news!
Little splash is doing fantastic! His eyes completely healed his wounds are all shut and completely healed over, and he Has since moved back outside with the rest of the flock! He’s eating normally and he’s even back to following me wherever I go!
Thank you so much to everyone for all the help and support!

More good news! I completed the day 6 candle and I’ve got two little call ducks developing!! I’m so excited!!! @Isaac 0 I’m going to need your assistance come hatch day!:wootThe photo quality on the candling pics is bad and the photo is a day old...They’re growing great I’ll try to get updated pictures tonight. None of the other 6 eggs are developing... is it safe to throw them out yet? Should I wait just in case? I’m also going to get some pictures of the air cells later... I think they’re an ok size but I’ll make sure...:clapI’m just happy that I’ve got some developing!
