Yeah, MODOC is a hoot, but then so are the rural law enforcement agencies in general. A neighbor told us about a friend who had a problem with another neighbor's goats getting loose and raiding his garden. After several confrontations with the neighbor about his loose goats, he finally called the sheriff who came out and listed to the man's complaint. His response was 'You called me out here about goats eating your garden? That isn't a law enforcement problem it's a farmer problem. Deal with it!' and left.

We have something tearing up a cedar tree in our timber. Looks suspiciously like some sort of big cat, Bobbie or cougar. We've had anyone who will look at it check it out and they even say they wouldn't discount a black bear. We've taken pictures and sent them to the district conservation offices, sent out emails galore. So far no response.

Of course this is the same agency that said there were no cougars in northeastern MO.......until one was shot about a mile and a half from us.

Guess my bantams are on their own.

That shouldnt be a law enforcement problem, it should be the goat owners problem. If the goat owner wont contain his live stock and deal with the problem, it then becomes a law enforcement problem and they have things they can do. As an ex LEO there is options for law enforcement to do when someone wont or dont contain their domestic livestock. I had to deal with cattle and horses many times when a farmer wont or cant fix or maintain the fence.

Will as soon as I start work on the run fence. The first project fence was recently taken down to facilitate repairs on our deck including moving dirt and terracing. Not hard to do though.
