Hawk troubles

OMG I am so sorry about the Arizona chicken hawks remark. I am trying to learn my away around the forum and my husband couldn't help himself but putting up that remark. Again I am sorry!

I am voting for Cooper's hawk. We have them frequently here. I don't see the facial disk that should be present if its a Harrier. Harriers have a distinctive flight pattern that is low to the ground.

Good luck with keeping your flock safe no matter what kind of hawk it is!

According to my Field Guide to Birds (Western region) by Donald and Lillian Stokes, that looks just like a Sharp-shinned Hawk. The hawk is just doing what it needs to do to live and that doesn't make it evil. Hawks were here first remember that.
