In the past 2 years I have lost at least 4 full grown laying hens to hawks. Unfortunately, they no longer free range but must stay in their pen covered with deer netting. I haven't lost any in their pens since installing the deer netting.
Since you have such brave hawks, don't count on your girls being safe even when they are full grown.
