Hay for bedding instead of straw

Hi all, I am having big trouble getting straw for bedding and nest boxes right now. Can I replace with hay? I can get it cheap and it's dry. I have a barn to keep it dry.

Absolutely. Straw is darn expensive. We us hay for nests and pine shavings for litter. Shavings are only $6 for compressed 3 square foot bale.

We use hay and straw for coop and nesting boxes.we use the 3' bails when the farms cut our land. We never have had a issue yet.
