Hay or Pine shavings???

I’ve used straw, but it’s a lot dustier and more prone to mold than pine shavings. In addition, hay and straw are hollow tubes which make excellent hiding spots for mites and things. In many ways pine shavings are superior to straw, and especially hay.
Slightly off topic, but I loved your article on coffee grounds in the coop. I currently use hemp but this sounds like a much cheaper alternative. May have to consider.

Thank you! It was wonderful for a smaller coop! I about to move to a larger coop and I’m not sore I have enough time to dry more grounds. For a 4X6 coop it was the perfect bedding!
