Hay or wood chips

Didn't know about mites in hay got pine shaves on the floor and poop box...going to put pine shaving in the nest tomorrow!

I personally use pine shavings on the coop floor for the DLM and have used hay in the nesting boxes for quite some time and yet to have any problems that i know of with mites. Very clean in the nesting box and they love to situate it the way they like it. I also check my birds often for critters and yet to find any.Knock on wood.
