Sounds like Mr Roo was protecting the girls.

No. I was nowhere near her. They were in the brooder coop. I was just nudging him out of the way to grab her when he bit me. She was the only one in there and there were 2 other roos in there as well. At any rate the roos are no longer fighting and the hens are all happy now.
