Now I will add that I have well above the minimal space recommendations, and I'm sure that played a big part

The funny thing is since this was my first keeper rooster I fully intended to do a slow integration but my new setup just isn’t great for that so I ended up just chucking them together and letting them free range and it worked out fine. I figured it was because I had 8 pullets his same size and two old hens and the numbers were on my side. Maybe not! Of course now that I have him I plan on raising my own and not having to worry about integration too much anymore.
