He-he..I learned a valuable lesson today

Lmao!! So funny! Boys...

Good story to share about my own son's decision making skills:

My 9 year old boy (Collin) came home from his winter vacation day camp last week with a dead porcupine HEAD in his backpack! He saw it when the group was hiking and thought I would think it was cool so he brought it home!! The dogs dragged it out of his pack in the back of my new car on the way home! His sisters were shreiking in the back. I pulled over and grabbed the porcupine ... Got poked by the quills 3 times. Collin threw it out of the car using his gloves. What was he thinking??

Coffee table! Ha!

Boys!

That is to funny. I can see my son doing the same thing. His chicks got out of there cage in the garage, every one was running to get them.

I'm glad you got all the babies back safely. My blonde child (daughter) would have chosen the table too.

this is exactly why I try to "train" the baby chicks from Day One (that I have them, not of their lives) ... by saying Chick Chick Chick whenever I am adding food, water, or treats

they get to know that *that* sound, means goodies ... and come running

agreed, tossing the food triggers their "I'm prey" behavior, so food in the hand, or dumped noisily into a dish, works better to attract them

if that doesn't work, sometimes a trail of black oil sunflower seeds, gets their attention -- they probably can't manage to eat those yet, but chickens, if they feel relatively safe, are CURIOUS ... once one pecks, they all do ...

but I am still a novice ... others will likely have a better scheme

yes, couldn't help laughing about the coffee table -- though if my son brought ours, the bottom is enclosed, with two doors, and that WOULD have been effective for keeping them --- though again I'd have to clean poo out of it ... nervous chickens, LOL

Hoo-boy! Thanks for the laughs! What did your son think he'd do with the coffee table? - turn it up-side-down and fence it in with poultry netting? Hee-hee! I love it! Thanks for the giggles! I needed that today!!!

We gotta love our boys... If he wouldn't have brought the coffee table it woulda been a dixie cup instead. Or his sisters backpack.
