he is dying and there is nothing I can do

Well, it's good that he's separated from the flock anyway. If there's anything contagious, hopefully it won't spread to the rest of the flock. And, if he's in a weakened state, the others are likely to peck at him. He just might perk up. I would get him warm and dry and inspect him carefully to assess his condition. Don't punish yourself for being at work. we all have to live. These things just happen. Keep us posted!

I brought my boy in from outside when it was 15 degrees (Fahrenheit) to indoors, at 52 degrees. He wasn't shocked at all- just relieved. What have you got to lose?

It's the same as putting him under a heat lamp, except you will be able to watch him.
And you won't be going outside in your jammies at 2am with the flashlight.

i went in and checked on him, he dosent feel as damp so he is def. drying up. and he has his head out from under his wing so that is a major plus for me
he has a very runny nose, his waddles are all wet from it
he looks much more alert than before. he is roosting on a ladder so I brought it a bit closer to the lamp so he could warm up better. So far I am pleased, I like his posture he dosent look so deathly
tomorrow is a holiday, should I just keep him on tetracyclin until the stores open up. (he hasnt touched what I gave him so far)

I think your good where he is. He has heat, water, and food and he is separate as not to contaminate the others in case its contagious. Just make sure you take care of the girls first and then him so you wont spread it just incase or at least clean up really good if you handle him and have to take care of the others.

Same as last night. he looks ok just has a very runny nose, sneezing. he is dry but still not himself
I called the feed store and they are open, they said they have some vetrx. Im just about ready to go pick it up

A great many battles have started over "what the feed store guy said"....
PLEASE check back with us to make sure he isn't just some minimum wage dummy that doesn't know anything.
That is what is so great about this forum, you get lots of different ideas to sort out.
Let us know how it goes.

sounds like you have a bad respiratory infection going on. not sure of best med to use. but can be caused from poor ventilation. if you have a window you can crack open that will help. and deep litter helps keep poo under control. if you can keep the water outside the coop it will stay drier and that is more important then warm. as chickens are very cold hardy.Good luck with your birds. and don't beat your self up. chickens naturally hide there illness and you will eventually lose some you didn't know were sick till it was to late.
