Ugh I have no idea then.... he had buff brahma, orphingtons, barred rock, black maran, GL and SL wyandotte and that was pretty much it. Most of his birds are buff.

Pea comb, so Buff Brahma X Marans is probably the right mix. Pea comb is dominant over Single.

I've had Silkie mixes with clean legs, so it's not completely unusual for them to not inherit the trait. It's not that common, but it happens sometimes.
