He scalped her. =(

I raised a bunch of them in an aviary. The males got nutty when they became sexually mature. Scalping females. Intimidating other males to the point a group of them trapped on between the bricks I had the waterer sitting on. We thought he was dead until we went to remove him and he flew all over the aviary. Within 5 minutes they had him trapped again. I've had chicks kill each other. They pecked at the legs and knees of other chicks. When they were down they would attack in mass and kill the chick. Northern Bobs are NUTS!! I hear the Georgia's are even worse.

I have a Texas a&m coturnix hen who is in recovery in my lab/bathroom in a ten gallon aquarium til I get a bird cage suitable for her. Her left side of her face was scalped off.Her eye was closed and I thought he de-eyed her as well. Yesterday I looked and saw her left eye was open, eyeball still in tact and eyelid healing. she still has dried blood on the left side of her face.

The roos do this for some reason, hormones, mating season, but whitie(her name) dont want to mate,so she got the rough end of the stick.I might make her a house quail in a cage of course.

I might can put my ole buddy lil man ( 1/2 bobwhite 1/2 coturnix) roo in there with her AFTER recovery so she can have fertle eggs.

It must be the weather. I found one of my button hens scalped just a little while ago when I went to feed them. She was not only raised with this male but has been with him for at least 6 months...I don't know what got into him

She won't eat or drink and doesn't try to get away when I pick her up...so I imagine she won't hold on much longer

Breeding season is just started to appear. When they get in to full swing for the first couple of weeks I hate it. Pairs help, but the trios never seem to work out good this time of year...
