Head Cold: What medication?

Quote:
Hi Kendreeva- I had the same situation once and I used Duramayacin. Worked like a charm.

Just saw this on another post and thought it might be helpful... dosage for Duramycin :

"I called Durvet, directly, for small dosage instructions. 1 tablespoon per gallon of water, made fresh daily. So, doing the math, that's 3/4 of a teaspoon per quart."

I think it's always helpful for advisors (such as Speckledhen) to clarify on threads like this since folks will be reading this thread for years to come and should know what they're up against and what the risks are.

I hope everything goes well for your sniffly bird and for your whole flock.

There's another thread where there is talk about a newer bacteriocide that maybe beneficial, called Denagard.

http://www.qcsupply.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=denagard

I am encouraged by the info for this med and think I'll be keeping it on hand. It's said to possibly keep MG from beig transmissible through the egg and there is no withdrawal necessary for layers.

It's approved for poultry.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice all around. I haven't seen cider vinegar at my local stores, but I haven't been really looking either. Thank you for the small dosage amount on the duramycin as well.

@ Chooks: If the duramycin or tylan doesn't work, I will look into the new product. I'm a little leery of anything that hasn't had years of success without horrible after effects under its belt.

@ Punkin: I understand the reason why she made the post, I was making it clear that this information was not what I needed in the hopes that others would offer medication advice instead of assuming I would take hers and cull. My directness in clarifying sometimes comes off as abrasive, but I assure you no disrespect was intended. I don't think Speckled took it the wrong way either, as she responded with simple clarification as well.
