My goose was injured by one of our dogs. Vet has her on pain meds and Baytril. She cannot stand, seems weaker on right side of body, and her depth perception is off.
My question is how much of a soupy should I be feeding to a 9.4 lb goose A day? IVe been giving about a cup every 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours.
She wants to eat. However I have to limit her as she has labored breathing during and after eating. I do frequent feedings, I just want to make sure I am feeding adequate amounts.

Are you offering greens? I'm not sure how much to feed. I would give her as much as she wants. Hopefully with rest she will start to improve. Did the vet mention if you could put her in water for some gentle therapy on her leg?

I actually work at the vet clinic that I took her to. Unfortunately my doctor doesn't normally treat geese. Currently my Doctor is out of town.
That said, I'm planning on making her a wheelchair tomorrow that can allow her to have some water therapy.

The feeding question was more so I can make sure she doesn't become under weight. I cannot give her solid food as it causes her labored breathing to worsen.

She seems to be improving from the initial day she was attacked. Breathing had improved some, and she does try to scoot herself. Which is way more than what she was doing.

This is my first serious head wound trauma, I've nursed my geese back from punctures to their neck and body from coyote attacks. This is a little beyond my wheelhouse.
