Head Picking.. Stupid hens

Yes it is awful but the first taste of blood and smell does intice nasty birds to come and have a go. We used to have white hens (not sure of their proper name) and they were awful to each other. However, a neighbour gave us some purple substance and the effect was amazing! And because the pecking stopped, it meant the poor bird healed.

We have now Rhode Island Reds and French hens and they are fine with each other. Actually, we have a very sick and close to dying hen, and even with her walking around half there, they did not attack her, but that is possibly due to no bleeding.

We also have some silver substance and this acts as a healing agent.

I am sorry because I do not know the names, and not sure if these are just french products. But it is worth asking your vet.

Often, I can bridge International waters when it comes to the chemical equivelents of products sold in different countries. Sadly, some chemicals are produced here (in the US) where they are banned from use, but still sold for use elsewhere. If you can locate the Brand Name(s) or the Active Ingredient(s), I see what I can find out ~'-)

Fluffypuffy, I am sorry, I don't have any advice and I do feel your frustration - really, I do - but the way you have explained this problem is just so darn funny I cannot stop laughing about it...and now you've got me picturing the Three Stooges with Polish chicken heads...

Could you possibly post a picture? And what is his name? I hope you're not offended that I find this so funny...

I actually refer to him as Chinese Monk with that shaved spot on the top of their heads.. But yes I also add the 3 stooges in there...
His name is Foghorn. For the most part he is very intelligent. He comes when I call him and he is my watch rooster and warns me of impending danger comeing down my sidewalk. He will not leave them alone and he proceeds try and flog people with his 3 pound body. I pick him up and tell them its okay. I stroke his back till he starts to pur and try to hand him off to the people that he was going to attack. See he is pretty harmless
