Omg. I am beginning to be a top poster, so sorry!
I have now got my lavender Sussex chick (four weeks old) twitching and shaking her head heaps, the motions are left to right super quickly like she’s got a fly on her face and then she stops and resumes it again. I only noticed when I got home from work and it’s about to be a long weekend. She’s eating, scratching around and drinking water as normal… I’ve checked for poop stuck to her bum, nothing there, her crop seems full, but not firm?
They also receive these multivitamins every second day as well as the coccidiosis treatment.
These chicks are really keeping me on my feet and I didn’t realise I’d have issue after issue. Heading tomorrow morning for a mite treatment for the cage to rule that out. Thanks.

How old are your chickens? Can you get a video of the head twitching, and upload it to a site, such as YouTube, Imgur, or Vimeo? What are you using to treat for coccidiosis? Why are you treating every other day? Some medications (Corid, amprollium, coxoid) cannot be used with B vitamins.

So, this one that's twitching/head shaking would be about 4 weeks old now. I will have a go at uploading.. I've been doing Amprolium every fourth day (following the instructions the lady I bought them off gave me) and I'm alternating between vitamins and plain water every day which is what she also recommended? She said if they don't have the vitamins every second day they get deficiencies and problems etc..?

Normally amprollium is given for 5-7 straight days, and no thiamine or vitamin B 1 is given for that period. Amprollium works by miming thiamine to destroy the coccidia organism. What amprollium product are you using? Are you in the US? Some people use a feed with a very low dose of amprollium in it which they believe can help baby chicks to build tolerance for coccidia in the soil and their droppings but the age of 3-4 months. I have used treated feed, but do not use it anymore. This chart below has the dosage for amprollium or Corid that most on BYC recommend:

What happened with your like one twitching? My flock is 5 weeks and all started twitching 😞 they’ll occasionally sneeze but nothing else

Hi! She was fine. I think I either stopped the amprolium for a few days and only did vitamins so she could have some. I think I was doing amprolium too often and they were having a deficiency. But please don’t take my word as I can’t really recall exactly!

Glad she got better! I pray mine do too 😌
