Heads up on animal meds from the Vet.

And people wonder why the price of exams, vaccines, etc is going up! B/c vets are having a harder time making a decent living! Think about what YOUR doctor would charge for the same services and meds and then complain. Just MHO.

Your lucky then. Im sure my vet wouldnt do that. I stopped getting my cat wormers at the vets for $6.00 per pill for 1 month, and started ordering Cestex pills from australia (petsmegastore.au I think) for about $1.25 or less a pill that lasts for 3 months. Im also sure that my vet wouldnt write a prescripition for me to order through petmeds.com. I take my cats to one vet, and my dog to another.

I don't care about their living as much as I do mine and my family's. That is the most important thing in my world. And if they want to mark up meds 200% then that's their bad and my family won't suffer because of that!!!! Geez Lueez

I would never go out of my way to spend more when I don't have to. and any sane person on this forum who is just scraping by like myself would do the same thing.

The thing that kills me about vets, and human docs too - the cat has asthma - had it al his life, takes the same meds every day no matter what. But the vet wants to see the cat. WHY? It's like my doc wanting to see me to renew my water pill rx......

Yeah, i know what you mean.

Thank you Debiraymond. That's what Im talking about. They nail you at every turn. Just the test for Lymes was $37. It was a surenge, and 1 min. time. I understand they need to make a living too. But Im not going to put an extra $60 towards their excalade payment just to be curteous.

I was just lucky this last time - both my cats have colds and the antibiotics didn't work. Of course they wanted to see both cats and perform tests, etc. No thanks! I explained, we are broke, it's Christmas.... They gave me l-lysine in a meat flavored paste for them without seeing them.

Yeah, they will always say bring them in....that's what their people are trained to say.... Just ask a few more questions. Can I talk with a vet? Is there an alternative option? Is there some other type of medication I can try? They are a business just like a dentist or mechanic or any other profession and it is our job as the consumer to ask questions and demand excellent service while shopping around for the best price.
