Here are a few tips for healthy brood fowl.
1-TURN YOUR BROOD HENS OUT. This should have been done around the 1st of July, but I just found this site. SORRY. Your brood hens and laying hens need the free range nourishment that you cannot supply. You cant beat MOTHER NATURE.
2-Put your cocks on tie cords. You can purchase these from the RANDALL BURKEY company. Make sure your cocks have access to shade at all times. The reason for this is so the roosters cant bother the hens. Also, if you pay attention, you will see h
ow some hens will "pick" their mates!
3-Add some dry dog food to their diet during the moult. Dont overdo it, about 1\5 of their feed twice a day.
4-Check for worms. Feed your fowl a vienna sausage can of whole grain corn at the evening feed and check the droppings the next morning. If they are loose, you have a worm issue. Droppings should be firm.
5- Talk to your local grocer and see if you can get the old produce. For the tie cord guys, give a slice of whatever you have available. Throw the rest to the girls on the yard.
6-If there is a fishernan in the house, feed fish guts to your fowl as you clean your fish. THEY LOVE IT!
I hope this is a help to someone. If anyone is interested I will tell you how to keep your fowl worm, mite , and louse free. Anyone interested? Its a 40year proven formula and you make it at home!
Till next time fellow chickenheads! THE REBEL SOLDIER.
