I've had 3 very healthy chicks hatch with no help at different times of the day. I put first chick in the brooder without giving any type of water and went back to watch the second chick hatch shortly after. Took the second chick to put in brooder with first chick and found the first chick dead. Gave the second chick a few drinks of water mixed with save a chick, checked it very often after, seemed to be doing fine. Woke this morning to find it dead? Third chick hatched and stayed in the bator overnight, dried and very active. Moved to the brooder, gave a few drinks of water with save a chick. Got busy with my 2 year old, checked on chick 10 minutes later and dead???? I just hatched healthy chicks 2 weeks and 1 week ago that are doing extremely well and drinking the same save a chick water. My brooder temps are right on. I put them in a separate clean box inside a larger storage type tub that is housing my 1 week and 2 week old bantam silkies and ameraucanas. What could be causing this...the bator was cleaned before the hatching 2 weeks ago and they are extremely active and healthy at hatch. Older chicks in brooder are happy and healthy. I have always put them in the brooder shortly after hatching to make room in batore. Could it be my brooder and what could cause them to die so fast. Please help!!! I have more due to hatch anytime...gonna keep them in the bator as long as I can.
