Back in June I posted about my black australorpe being really sick for about 2 weeks. I was just about to give up on her but to my amazement she recovered. We were in the process of selling our house and moving to another state. It wasn't easy, but I managed to leave my 3 chickens behind with a really nice lady who has cared for them well. We stayed in touch because she told me her son (13) and in 4H was going to enter her into the state fair at the end of August. Imagine the surprise when she took first place in her breed and reserve grand champion over all breeds there. The young man did well. I felt badly having to leave my chickens behind but this was the right move for them.
