I had the girls out for a bit today and to get them back in the coop I used the rake which is the biggest monster in the world next to the lawn mower. zAll I had to do was wave it around I they bolted for the coop. easy as pie!

Hey that works wonders! I have a broom to do the same thing. All I have to do is hold the broom out and they start moving in the direction I need them to go. They are learning that treats work really good too! I have two Delaware chicks. Mystery is the biggest one and she is the Alpha pullet, the other one, Moonshine, is the last chicken on the totem pole, poor thing.

He he he he he he! Love the girls!! I have two delaware girls, and they are just darling, they were also my first girls to lay eggs last year! I just adore them!

All I have to do is come out the side door with their treat bucket and hollar "Come on babies" and they come flying from every direction. But mine are petrified of the rake too. If i go in to rake up in the house they split!

I've trained mine to the treat bucket, too. And I always feed them in their run.
Mine are much easier to lead than to herd. lol. Now I just take the bucket into the run and call them and they're all put up in minutes. I also don't want to do anything that will make them afraid of me or things that I carry.
