Heart attack?

I'm not sure about the vitamin deficiencies being more prominent in Silkies compared to other breeds but I have never had any problems with it ( my chickens are my babies, they get the table scraps, I buy pet mince for them, they get extras like bird seed and a good mixture of other stuff like greens, fruits etc) . The main problems I've had with Silkies is the wet and cold of the random weather in NZ and sinus infections. huh that's interesting if the sizzle is a sizzle prone to seizures, but I've never had any other chickens have seizures so I assumed it was a once off. I've heard about house chickens but where I live I'm not allowed ( chickens must be outside) but I can imagine how cute that is

I haven't had any problems with my other silkie either and I've had her since she was young, raised the same way this guy is being raised and she never had a problem. She just turned 4 years old.

I don't mind one or two house birds, but more than that and the diaper change duty is not going to be fun. lol

I think it is fine that you want to keep trying with him--he sounds like a cutie with a lot of personality, Is there any chance that he and your house silkie could become buddies when they are closer in size. As far as the PolyVisol, I would use it or the SaveAChick vitamins, but not both. There are better buys on poultry vitamins to put in the water, such as Avian Super Pack online and Rooster Booster vitamins at TSC. Certain vitamins (A,D, and E) are fat soluble, so they can be overdosed if you were giving both kinds along with what's in his food, so just use the PolyVisol until it's empty, then switch to whichever brand you chose. This vitamin dose is 1/4 tsp per 5 gallons (or mix 1/4 tsp and add to 5 oz water--then add 1 oz of that liquid to each gallon of water:) http://www.jefferspet.com/avian-super-pack/p/AB-P1/

They will very likely get to be friends, assuming this little guy makes it to her size. She's a very laid back girl, seems to get along with everyone and I figure she would adapt pretty quick to a feathered buddy.

Thanks for the info on the vitamins. Looks like he's going to be on the polyvisol for quite a while since its a pretty good sized bottle... probably weighs as much as he does. lol. 1 and 2/3 oz., but the drops I took out of it already haven't made a dent. If it helps, I don't care how long it takes.
