Heart breaking day on the farm...

Any updates?

I’m sorry for your loss. I had a Pomeranian that went after and killed two of my mother’s neighbors chickens when I was visiting her. He was able to get through the no climb fence. I paid her for the loss of the chickens. It probably wasn’t enough, but she just asked for replacement cost. I understand the consequences of having a bad dog. I’m sorry your neighbors do not.

You have to live next to them so be as civil as possible. I wouldn’t want to shoot a dog either, but I think I could if needed. My dog came home with me and when I visited my mother he was always on a leash after that incident.

Sometimes I’d like to kill the chickens when they start eating my tomato plants.

Good luck!

I’m so sorry for your loss. It really hurts when animals we love are viciously attacked. Our sweet yellow lab was attacked by a neighbors Akita! He isn’t the same anymore, still loving, but not to any other dogs. We had video of the attack, called animal control and found dog owner, made them pay for surgery and vet bills!
I would definitely pursue legal means, not take matters into own hands. But be ready if the dog comes on your property again! Take care of matters on your property.

I feel your pain my entire flock of 20 girls were wiped out by my neighbors dogs..They ripped through the hardware cloth of my totally enclosed run. Sheriff Dept can't do anything about it and no animal control. Neighbor had to let her dogs out of my coop. So frustrating. I now have to reinforce my run with chain link and they have been back 5 times already after my new babies.

So sorry to hear of your loss, your anger is certainly understandable. People just suck sometimes, that's all there is to it. Hopefully they don't have kids......... Be sure to let law enforcement know if the neighbor threatens you - find out from law enforcement what you can do for future.

Happend to me yesterday and a month ago same owner different dog, they were Huskies and after some research I found out they are known to kill chickens, I have a 12g in my closet with 3 shells next to it incase the dog come back. 6 dead chickens 3 last time 3 yesterday. Charged 145 for the 3 dead and 4 injured, nursed 2 back to health and two were almost ready to be put back in, killed the hen that was paralyzed for 2 week that I put hours of work into feeding it and making it walk again. Yesterday It killed the one that was paralyzed and 2 others the paralyzed one couldn't run only kinda waddle. Killed 2 of my favorite hens. I'm charging 300 this time, they said it won't happen again the last time and well it happend again. Sorry for you loss.
