I Suffered my first lost, I take full responsibility one of my girls broke lose and my new terrier dog got too her before me in nanno seconds!

Sorry to hear that. Don't blame yourself, consider it as an accident. It wont turn back time.
I have 3 dogzzzz and numerous cats as can be seen in my Avatar. None bother my chickens. I'm talking chickens free ranging and dogs off leash. Cats are feral and of course run loose.
Consider training your dog to not be aggressive, But I do not know how.
