Heartbroken :(

I've noticed when our chickens refuse to go back in the coup following some kind of attack, the culprit has been an opposum more times than not. We put out a trap (the friendly kind) with some tuna to see if we can catch them and drive them far away from the farm.

Glad your rooster came back.

My DH is bring one home this evening and we're setting it out. just to see. We have 3 game cameras on the property and I've just movd and put brand new batteries in so they are ready to go. ready to find out for sure what is going on out there, I'm literally loosing sleep worrying about them. I hope with Big Boy back the girls will go back to the coop and relax tonight, on the bright side Idid get 3 eggs this morning!!

Sorry about your lose. i had a rough time last year and lost 14 hens to different predators.
If you do catch something look up your local laws on wildlife. i caught and released an opposum and found out later it was illegal to do it. my local laws allow you to catch and kill wildlife that is doing damage to your property as long as its within 100 yards of your house or buildings.

really upsetting business. glad you've got your roo. I bet you see some action on your camera. the culprit will be back - too much good stuff in there.
can you lock them up for a couple of days while the camera is doing it's thing? hate for them to suffer more trauma because of a determined predator.

I cleaned the coop out while the roo went MIA the other day, nothing.
All the girl have went back except 3 they are rooster at night on the back porch, I'll take a pic tonight, my cats are keeping watch.

They're not hurting a thing, and I think they feel safe there.

I guess because they know that's where I call them from in the morning, because that where I have my morning coffee.

Beside that's also when they where babies that where they broader box was... hopefully they'll make it back to the coop soon.
