Heat for baby chicks??

How far away should the lamp be from the brooder??
The chicks are coming tomorrow and I need to know! Thanks!

Anyone? This is the first time I have had chicks. I need your help

With a thermometer in the bottom of the brooder, the heat should be between 90=95 the first week and five degrees less each week after.

Far enough that the temperature maintains a constant 95 degrees in the brooder for the first week. (90 - 95 is fine.) There needs to be a section of the brooder that is a bit cooler, so the chicks can get away from the heat if necessary.
