Heat For Cold Weather

I Live In S.w. Ga. And Nightime Temps Are Down In The 20's... For The First Time My Chickens Are Laying Less.... Are You Provididing Any Heat For Your Grown Chickens And If So What Do You Use?

It's not the cold that's slowing the egg production is the amount of light their getting per day! If your chickens are old enough to lay they definetly don't need heat, especially not in Ga.

No heat. It has been -20*C at night. The chickens are all tucked away in their home, draft free and cuddle off the ground. It is much warmer in their coop, as it is insulated. I have one lightbulb to provide light, but not really much heat. The wtaer freezes, but I give them fresh a few times a day.

I figure if I provide heat, they will adapt to rely on heat and will not able to survive without.
