My ducklings are a little over 2 weeks old.
I was wondering how old before they don't require a heat lamp?
I'm in Northern Ontario where night time temperatures lately are -60F. My home is set at 70F. I have forced air heating and there is a register beside their brooder.

I have one duck that pants a lot. When I turn their light off it stops panting.

At 2 weeks they can have a temp of between 75-80 in their brooder with a space away from the heat to cool off. What breed are your ducklings? I always start my ducklings thatIi brood myself at around 85* then lower temps 5* each week there after.
-60 that is sure a might cold. Brrr.

Yes, still cold out with lots of snow yet. I am raising them in a brooder in my house.
They are Pekins. My house is 71. I have room to adjust their lamp then.
Thank you, this is helpful.

We love Pictures so post some when you can. I haven't ever had Pekins but I have read many threads where they will pant so evidently they get warmer than other ducks.
Thanks Miss Lydia :) Here they are, 2 weeks and 5 days old
