I am wondering if I should put a timer on my heat lamp to turn it off at night. Or just leave it on all the time?

My chicks are right now one week old.

They need the heat 24/7 with the option to move away if they need to
x2. If anything, you can turn it off in the daytime IF you have consistently high temperatures during the day and risk the chicks overheating. So for 1 week olds, you want around 85-90F in the warmer part of the brooder and maybe 10 degrees or more cooler in the other half of the brooder.
