Heat Plate Suggestions for Ducklings

I'm late to this thread but I have the Brinsea and it was much cheaper from Wal-Mart than Amazon.
I just checked WalMart to see if the one I got (the Brinsea EcoGlow 1200) was cheaper there but it looks like right now they're selling it for $110 at Walmart & $100 at Amazon... I actually purchased it on 2/28 for $75 from Amazon so I'm glad I bought it when I did because that's a crazy jump in price!

Thanks for bringing that up though, I honestly hadn't thought of WalMart so it was good to check... I'm still holding out for the Premier 1 heat plate but now it's backordered until 3/9 (it's been pushed back for over a month so I'm starting to lose hope that it'll make it here in time)... Luckily my 1200 is supposed to arrive sometime tonight so I'll at least have something for the ducklings when they arrive in a few weeks.

And I've heard a lot of good things about the Brinsea so I'm sure it'll work well for them!

Oh and the advantage of the Brinsea over the Premier 1 to me is the screw in legs which can be gradually adjusted. If I remember from research, the Premier 1 has pre arranged notches. Ducklings grow so fast its nice to give them a turn or so a day.
That's really good to know -- thanks! I think you're right about the leg notches... I was more looking at the Premier 1 because of the larger size (16x24 Premier 1 vs 12x17 Brinsea) and the temperature control adjustment knob, but I'm sure I'll be happy with my Brinsea too!

I've heard ducklings grow quickly but didn't realize that they grow THAT quickly 🙃 I can't wait to meet my gals & see them grow like weeds right before my eyes! I'm hoping that they won't need the heat for too long because I don't know how many weeks the heat plate will fit all 6 ducklings underneath it at once!

Harbor Freight is awesome -- I just checked and the going price is $30... I had been considering getting one for a while now (it would be especially helpful with checking temps for making candles & soaps and adding in essential oils, etc) so I think I might splurge & go for it next time I'm around a Harbor Freight! Thanks for the suggestion!
Just like any tool, you don't realize how handy it is until you own one.
I actually have two; one in the house and one in the shop.
The one in the house gets a lot of use in the kitchen. 👍
