Heat Plates for Brooding Ducklings?

Thanks for the information I have seen these and if I ever brood in the house again, which I mostly let mamas do it. I think that would be something to look into instead of the heat lamp.

Plates work well, but for $15 you can get a reptile heater for your lamp fixture and they work well too!

I use both, but if I had to pick one or I was on a budget, I'd get the reptile heater because it is nice for an adult who is wet and having feather issues.

My plate is a Brinsea and the quality is good.

Know this is an old thread, but what's the ambient temp under these? think mine is breaking

Surface temperature of the box surface under the plate is a little over 90f

How high up do you position the plate?

High enough for the ducklings to stand underneath.

It radiates the heat downward just like a lamp or reptile heater does, so they get plenty of heat even if they're laying down.
