Heat Source for Brooder.... What Do You Use?

I mean obviously it's an bulb of some sort but which kind? and what wattage? I'm building a brooder that's 48x36 inches and about 8 inches tall from floor to ceiling.

I have used about the house, both flood and spotlight bulbs, I find also those heat lamp bulbs for the food industry... like for buffets.


What do you folks use?
 
We're going to be using a reptile heat "lamp," which gives off no light, fitted into the usual metal lamp-shaped reflector brooder lights use. This way, the chicks can sleep at night with no light adding to their stress. It's more natural for them to experience darkness at night than having a light on 24/7.

Now that's a thought! I've never heard of such. But found one on ebay.. I suppose petco has them as well.

Ok so they make these in 100w and 200w varieties in the ceramic version, so which one are you using? and, I guess it gets pretty cold in Long Island? I'm in south Texas....





Or are you using one of these?
